Not So Resolutionary
Sometime this past weekend I had planned to write a super inspired post on my new years “resolution” (quotes, because I don’t like to call it that – more like a new outlook?). But the truth is, I haven’t been feeling so inspired. Or resolutionary (because that’s a word now…).
I’m now back in Chicago after a lovely ski vacation in Vail – and I’m probably not alone when I say that coming home after being in a resort town for over a week can be a bummer.
Paired with the fact that I was sick with a head cold all weekend (I blame my sister – thanks for sharing your germs
), I was not feeling my best.
I even had toast for breakfast. How boring. Needless to say, I didn’t have much of an appetite, and definitely did not feel up to exercising.
Luckily my family managed to perk me up a bit, and we spent the day doing a little shopping and later went over to my aunts house for Indian food (yum! favorite!), jam sessions (I really need to start playing music again), and a little pre-birthday celebration (for me!) which included cupcakes. I wish I had some pictures to share, but I decided to just be in the moment instead of worrying about capturing it.
Then this morning, I had my first ever surgery. And am now 4 teeth less wise. (bad joke. not sorry.)
And I look like a chipmunk! Let me tell you, it’s very hard to eat anything when you can’t feel your entire lower jaw. SO weird.
Needless to say, I didn’t get any kind of workout in today, and to be honest I’m getting pretty antsy. I haven’t really been on top of my game as far as workouts are concerned since September, and I’m itching to get back into a solid routine. Plus, I was supposed to start the next round of Best Body Bootcamp today and I’m a bit discouraged about not being able to do that. Hopefully I can get cleared to work out within the next day or two.
one cute, yellow/green one for me!
I love creating things with my hands. Call me weird, but it’s a meditation of sorts. And I love the outcome
And as a practice, one not-so cute one. The yarn color is kind of blah (baby pink is *definitely* not my thing), and it’s not a particularly soft hat.
maybe cuter with the flower? (excuse the chipmunk cheeks) I’ll probably end up giving up to salvation army unless I find someone else dying to have it.
So, tomorrow (or today by the time most people read this) is my Birthday (22! wahoo!) and I’m a little less than jazzed. I can’t drink or party, can’t go out to fancy lunches or dinners (surgery), so I’m not entirely sure how I plan to celebrate. But I AM determined to celebrate, even though any shenanigans may have to be postponed until the weekend.
Here’s to a better tomorrow? You resident chipmunk says yes.
Did you have your wisdom teeth removed? How was recovery for you?
Do you knit? Crochet? share some patterns!

Well done on knitting those hats. My mum taught me how to knit when I was a kid but I was always dropping the stitches…doh!

Thanks, Jemma! I learned from my mom as well, it’s a great stress relief for me
I can’t believe you made those hats-they are sweet. I hope your face feels betteer (weird sentence but you know what I mean LOL?). I didn’t have a particularly bad wisdom teeth incident but I know a lot of people have.

Those hats are too cute!!!

I got my wisdom teeth way back in high school, and it was not a good experience for me because mine were impacted and growing sideways.
Needless to say I was almost useless for an entire week and could not go anywhere near solid food! My pain meds also made me extremely nauseated. Glad it’s over with!
And good thing you are not exercising! Let your body heal

Thanks, Natasha! It was a hard week, but glad to say I’ve healed well
Those hats are so cute!! I can knit, but pretty much only your basic scarf. I always wanted to learn how to do more fun things and how to crochet, but I always get super intimidated.

Thanks, Liz – All it takes is a little practice!
